ONIX Production Tools Released

Jun 07, 2015

A comprehensive set of tools to produce and manage high-quality book metadata has been released. The three main components – Record Management, Feed Management, and Access & Integration – provide an integrated and collaborative environment for managing ONIX records.

See the Products & Services page for details.

Records Management

The Records Management component consists of a Records Repository and ONIX PIE.

The Records Repository is where all records are stored. Records can be imported into the repository from existing files, and can also be created online. Currently, ONIX 2.1 and 3.0 are supported formats in the Repository.

ONIX PIE (Product Information Editor) is used to modify records in the Records Repository. PIE implements the ONIX specification.

Feed Management

Feed Management is concerned with the consistent production of and delivery of record sets. The primary activity is version publishing, either manually or on a set schedule, and quality control. Other activities include feed configuration, access management, and usage monitoring.

Access and Integration

Keys provide access to the ONIX feeds. These keys are configured by a team administrator and can be updated or revoked as necessary. Partners and software clients can make use of these keys to access data. A variety of integration scenarios can be built on data access using keys.
